In one of the most sensational Cricket scandals, News of the World (NOTW), a UK based news website, smashed a multi-million pound cricket match-fixing ring on Saturday which has rigged the currently going Lord’s Test between Pakistan and England exactly as was decided. Pakistani bowlers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif delivered THREE no-balls as was decided between the match fixer and agents of NOTW.
He could make many millionaires out of his tips
All this happened in
London where Mazhar Majeed, fixer for the bowlers, took GBP 150,000 from NOTW and was caught in the
spy camera. Mazhar allegedly promised the delivery of no-balls and it all happend at the very same moment when it was promised.
Agent of NOTW giving away cash to Mazhar
The Scotland Yard police have launched a probe into the matter seeing the video evidence provided by NOTW after Pakistani star bowlers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif deliverd 3 no-balls in the Test on Thursday and Friday at Lord’s.
Asif, Butt, Amir and Akmal
GBP 140,000 were delivered to the fixer in crisp GBP 50 notes at west
London hotel room at the Copthorne Tara on Wednesday night after giving him GBP 10,000 in advance which went to the bowlers as per Mazhar.
The deal in progress
Mazhar promised to the undercover agents of NOTW, “I’m going to give you three no-balls to prove to you firstly that this is what’s happening. They’ve all been organised, okay? This is EXACTLY what’s going to happen, you’re going to SEE these three things happen. I’m telling you, if you play this right you’re going
to make a lot of money, believe me!”
The no-ball that happened at said time: NO COINCIDENCE
NOTW sensationally revealed Mazhar Majeed (the fixer) and the young Pakistan captain Salman Butt as the ringleader of the band of cheats. Mazhar also named wicket keeper Kamran Akmal and boasted he had a total of SEVEN corrupt cricketers in his pocket, all banking huge sums from bookies and betting syndicates.
The agent, the captain and the fixer
Mazhar told the agents of NOTW that they could make “absolutely millions, millions” by paying him up to GBP 450,000 a time for information on
cricket matches, then placing bets on the fixed outcome. He also told that some future cricket games against England this summer are already earmarked for cheating. Mazhar said in favour of the cricketers, “These poor boys need to. They’re paid peanuts.” as Pakistan fights from its worst floods.
Mazhar, the match fixer counting the British Pounds
Mazhar, 35, has Swiss
bank accounts into which he deposits his ill-earned money and owns a GBP 1.8 million home in Surrey. He is a familiar face at the cricket grounds all around the world.
Mazhar leaving with cash
Mazhar described to the agents on how the betting scam operates across the globe. He pulled out a white
BlackBerry phone from his white carrier bag and flicked through a series of messages. “I deal with an Indian party,” he said. “They pay me for the information.” Mazhar also explained how many
cricket bets are placed on what he called “brackets” – events happening in a group of 10 overs.
